Murals of Waco - with addresses!

We spent Christmas Day traipsing around Waco, Texas and mentally preparing ourselves for the madness of Magnolia Farms and the Silos tomorrow. But today, today was calm and quiet. There was virtually nobody in downtown Waco and that was great for us as we drove around and snapped photos in front of a ton of cool murals. Why can’t we do this in our little town? These pieces of artwork and really beautiful but also provide great photo ops! They sure got us out of the car! Here’s a few of our favorites.

622 Washington Ave, Waco, TX

Same mural but different view

1000 Columbus Avenue

720 Franklin Avenue

5th and Franklin

324 S 6th St, Waco, TX

910 La Salle Ave, Waco, TX

After all the touring around the murals, we checked out the 100 year old Waco Hippodrome Theatre. They have rooms for live theatre and regular theater rooms with servers for dinner! It’s like a Studio Movie Grill if you’ve been to one of those. The food was actually really good! We got the nachos and pulled pork sandwich along with side baskets of fries on happy hour. Talk about a score! Since the plates were big, we shared meals and we were only out of pocket $32 for dinner. Pretty screaming deal for a little Star Wars and a little taste of 100 year old history. It’s always cool to see pieces from the past - in California we don’t have many buildings from 100 years ago. These things were built to last!

We then drove back to our hotel (we tend to love the Hampton Inn by Hilton) and saw some amazing Christmas lights along the way. Traveling over the holidays can be hard since you’re not at home, but it can also be fun because you get to see places all decorated for the holidays. It’s a little magical treat! not the best photo, since it was taken from the window of a moving car, but the lights! Oh they were just beautiful.
