Day 8: A Lazy & Hot Day in Montreal

Some of us woke up well rested with some better air flow and others were still waking up hot and tired. After some breakfast and a few showers we rolled over to the botanical gardens with students IDs for some $6 discounts. Mama loves the discounts!

Montreal was home to the summer Olympics in 1976 and there are a few buildings still standing from those events including this one that is directly across the street from the expansive botanical garden.

The botanical garden is huge. Like 190 acres huge. And it was 91 degrees with 75% humidity and it was 95 degrees. Outside. In the heat. There was a little wind but honestly that only helped a bit and by noon I was crabby and grumpy.

One saving grace was the Japanese garden that had an indoor exhibit with a room with low benches and AIR CONDITIONING!!! The gardens really were gorgeous and on another day, I would have enjoyed them a lot more.

There was a bonsai garden with trees as old as 105 years old. That’s pretty cool!

Emily took all of these lovely photos.

So guys, that might have been it for today. We came home, took some longer than expected naps, watched a Disney+ movie about Tammy Faye and that whole historical debacle.

A feast was had among us six. We got take out from a dumpling place literally two doors down from our AirBnB and we were pleasantly surprised and happy with the quality. We were surprised that it had only one Yelp review but we changed that by adding another one and some photos. Dumplings, noodles, potstickers and some beef spare ribs. Everything was tasty and shared by everyone.

We finished the movie and started to think about our long haul tomorrow. We are hitting up all of the big cities in eastern Canada. Toronto here we come!
