Day 2 At Sea
We woke up this morning to room service knocking at our door. We were still sleeping. We had plans for a 9am meet up at the spa hot tub so we leisurely took our time waking up, going to the international cafe for cappuccinos and mochas before taking our chocolate croissant and find the others at the spa.
The boat is moving a bit today. I’m so thankful I have a patch behind my ear. I would for sure be seasick without it. We are in slightly open waters as we approach Ketchikan so the waves are visible today and there is no longer close by land to watch.
With no plans today, we lingered, we lounged, took showers after and then found a table for us all to down and play Trivial Pursuit.
Eventually we scattered, some needed to do homework, others needed naps, and we agreed to meet back up for dinner at 6pm. It is dress up night and we have been warned that this no longer means tuxedos and evening gowns. Culture has changed a lot in the last 20 years. Our society just isn’t as fancy anymore and it shows on this cruise. Many people are dressed for a day at Disneyland while others dress up a bit.
We ended up hungry earlier and met up at 5:15pm. We all got fancy and ate an amazing dinner of halibut and beef tenderloin. The food has been delicious and the service impeccable. The servers even sang happy anniversary to me and Todd tonight as this trip was to commemorate 25 years together ❤️
Todd and I were thinking back on why we haven’t done a cruise since our honeymoon and we can’t really think of why. We are having a blast and will be excited to book more cruises in the future.
After dinner we went to a Broadway type show the singers and dancers performed hits from a variety of popular musicals. At one point I forgot that we were on a huge floating ship in the middle of the ocean. The stage and theatre room held a few hundred guests and we felt like we could have been at home seeing a show.
Once the show was over, we drifted over to the lounge where live music was playing and drinks were consumed. Eventually we had a group of 8 again and we decided to mosey up to the hall for some quiet space and a big table to play Taboo. Another great board game that ends in laughter and smiles.
We are now resting and ready for tomorrow’s first day ashore in Ketchikan. We have room service booked and plan to meet at 8am for departure from the boat!
