Glacier Bay Cruising

We were in no rush today as we are simply cruising through the inland passage of Glacier Bay. We spent breakfast and brunch up on deck 15 at a big table for all of us to rise and shine in our own time. Our views allowed us to see the starboard side of the ship and the back viewing.

We saw numerous glaciers as the boat stopped and turned in a circle. It was a little chilly outside but not bad, and we mostly viewed everything from inside the dining room.

There were some national park rangers speaking about the glaciers, telling the history of their movement, and highlighting the details of their color. With binoculars you could see a few brown bears walking on the shoreline. We saw a few kayakers betting awfully close to the glacier and we wondered where they got into kayaks. Are they from our ship or did they take off from land? Not that we wanted to join them. It’s way too cold and that’s way too much work.

The National Park rangers also had a gift shop set up on board so cruisers could purchase keepsakes because we are visiting a National Park. I caught a whale with its flipper up!!!

Some naps happened in late morning along with homework - poor Jacob still has one more year to finish his teaching credential.

After a calm afternoon we met up at 3:30pm for an orchestra concert which turned out to be more like a concert. We didn’t expect there to be singers, but there were! It was a great show but the music was a bit loud. After the show we headed straight for our early bird dinner at 5pm. I started to calculate how much these dinners would have cost us for our group of 8…pretty much about $500 a night and that’s without drinks. The Coral Dining Room has been our adventure every night and tonight it served lobster tails!

Everyone except one person ordered the surf and turf. The food was delish along with the Cobb salad and mushroom soup. Some people ordered the escargot. Each night we think that we can’t fit dessert in our stomachs and then somehow we do.

Since it was fancy night, after dinner we all went to change back into comfy clothes and head up to deck 15 for card games. A long game of Code Names commenced along with mobile orders of chicken tenders, fries, diet cokes, and teas. Cruising is seriously the best vacation for these young kids because they already love mobile ordering. Cruising includes all of that for free!

Afterwards it seemed like everyone was trying to do what we wanted to do. The comedy show was packed. The marriage game was packed. We roamed around until we decided to chill outside one of the lounges and wait for that show to end before the magician came on next

It worked! I got four seats for us to watch his show. Kyle Marlett was on America’s Got Talent and has a Netflix show. We saw him a few nights ago and his magic tricks and humor were amazing. Tonight was another stellar performance. You can catch him at https://www.instagram.com/kylemarlett?igsh=amQ1OGxvM2hjN2tz

After that hilariousness, we headed to the piazza for a virgin strawberry daiquiri and some live music…which was pretty loud honestly. But good! I was so happy to be jamming to some Swift, ABBA, and everything in between. There was a conga line and tons of people dancing as we sang along and laughed  wonderful way to end the night.

It’s currently 10:50pm and still fully light outside. The sun will be rising at 3am y’all! It’s light out!!!
